These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Tyrannosaurus Tot, LLC, a Virginia limited liability company ("Reed," "we," "us," or "our"), governing your use of the Reed mobile application and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who may use the Service
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to create an account.
- Reed is a family reading tracker. The adult account holder may create profiles for members of their family, including children under 13. By creating a child's profile, you represent that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, that you consent to the collection and use of that child's information as described in the Privacy Policy, and that you are responsible for that child's use of the Service.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account and any profiles you create.
2. The Service
Reed lets families track reading: add books to reading lists, log progress, mark books finished, rate and review books, earn achievements, and share reading activity within their family. Parents can require approval for books and reviews and set daily and weekly reading-time limits, and books are filtered for age-appropriateness based on each child's age. We may add, change, or remove features over time.
3. Accounts, profiles, and security
- Provide accurate information and keep your account credentials secure.
- You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account and the profiles you manage, and for maintaining appropriate supervision of children's profiles.
- Notify us promptly at john@tyrannosaurustot.com of any unauthorized use of your account.
4. Membership and billing
Access to Reed requires a paid family membership (a subscription). Membership is family-level: the adult account holder subscribes, and the membership unlocks the Service for the family.
- Plans. Membership is offered in tiers — currently Read, Create, and Be-Little — billed monthly or annually (the Read plan is annual only). Each plan includes up to three child profiles; additional child profiles are billed as a per-child add-on. Current plan names and prices are shown at checkout and at tyrannosaurustot.com/pages/memberships.
- Beta. During the current TestFlight beta, the Service is free to use and paid memberships are not active — you will not be charged; the terms below describe how billing will work at launch.
- Payment processor. Subscriptions are purchased through web checkout and processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method for the membership and any per-child seats.
- Recurring billing / auto-renewal. Unless stated otherwise at the point of purchase, the membership is a recurring subscription that automatically renews at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual, as selected) at the then-current price, until cancelled.
- Cancellation. You may cancel at any time through the subscription billing portal (linked from your parent dashboard) or by contacting us at john@tyrannosaurustot.com. Cancellation stops future renewals; it takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds. Payments are non-refundable except where required by law.
- Price changes. We may change membership prices; we will give notice as required by law, and changes apply to subsequent billing periods.
- Free or comped access. During testing or promotions we may grant free or discounted access (e.g., promo codes); such access may be limited and withdrawn.
[REVIEW] This describes an external (Stripe web) purchase rail, currently permitted on the U.S. App Store under Apple's guidelines. App Store rules, required purchase disclosures, and any Apple commission on external purchases can change, and non-U.S. storefronts may require Apple in-app purchase. Confirm the current rules and required disclosure UX with counsel before public launch.
5. User content and conduct
- Your content. You may create content such as reviews, ratings, notes, usernames, and avatars ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content and grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and share it as needed to operate the Service (including sharing within your family).
- Responsibility. You are responsible for your User Content and the content created under profiles you manage. Do not post content that is unlawful, infringing, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate — particularly given the Service's family and child audience.
- Prohibited conduct. Do not misuse the Service, including: attempting to access other users' accounts or data; reverse engineering, scraping, or overloading the Service; using it to harm or harass others; or violating any law.
- Moderation. We may review, remove, or restrict content or accounts that violate these Terms, without notice where appropriate.
6. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by Tyrannosaurus Tot, LLC and its licensors and is protected by law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for its intended personal, family purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works except as permitted by these Terms or applicable law. Book metadata and related content may be provided by third parties and remain the property of their respective owners.
7. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties, including Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (hosting), and Apple (distribution). Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
8. Apple App Store terms
If you obtained the App through the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Reed, not Apple, and that Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Your use of the App must also comply with the Apple Media Services Terms and the standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, to the extent applicable.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, REED AND ITS OWNERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Tyrannosaurus Tot, LLC and its owners and agents from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms or the rights of others.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g., intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute terms) will survive.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The exclusive venue for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be the state and federal courts located in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, where required, notify you. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
